Maralal International Derby

The Maralal Camel Derby is an annual event, held midyear just outside of Maralal town. This is Kenya’s best known and most prestigious camel race, attracting both local and international competitors. The event is a major draw for spectators as well as racers, and the competition is fierce.

Many local professional camel racers come to compete each year. Some of the finest racing camels are seen in town during the race period. The race is a great social event and the major event on the Maralal Calendar.



Day by Day Tour Program

01Day 1

Leave Nairobi early in the morning we drive to Maralal via Nyahururu. On arrival we camp in the town and later in the afternoon we have some sightseeing excursion.

02Day 2

Maralal International Camel Derby event Full day.

03Day 3

Today we depart late morning for Nairobi with a stop over at the Thomson Falls Lodge for Lunch. Later we drive back to Nairobi, arriving at around 18:00 hrs.
